Observation notes: Hanging underneath porch roof during the day, doesn't appear to be active right now, not even sure it is alive to be honest, just hanging there. Moth (or butterfly) is quite large - the single wing length is about 4 inches long (from where it meets the body to longest tip of wing), have never seen one so big. The screws in the wood of the picture are normal sized wood screws for comparison, roof is quite high so can't get close enough to put a ruler in the image. Can't differentiate forewing from underwing (looks like one big wing to me), body is thick and fuzzy, antennae are feather looking, and wings are standing out parallel like a butterfly not flat like a normal moth..... Online ID tools don't seem to have one that looks like this - so I am stumped.... any help is appreciated!! Oh and weather is quite mild down here this time of year, sunny, clear and 69 degrees Fahrenheit today, and has been about the same the past few days temperature wise, though occasionally cloudy, rainy and changes fairly often (though we rarely get true winter or cold snaps). If any other questions - let me know, I'll see what I can help with figuring out!
