Observation notes: Butterfly (very tattered & worn) was found dead on sidewalk near road (Patterson Street & Foothills Blvd. in Klamath Falls, Oregon), & was likely hit by a car. It was a warm sunny afternoon, with temperatures around 60 degrees F. No other Tortoiseshell butterflies were seen flying or on the ground.

Coordinator notes: Found dead is fine. A dead Hackberry Butterfly was found dead in Death Valley National Park. That was a publishable discovery. A live one was photographed as well. Both got published! A California Tortoiseshell probably not as big a find but I like them too!-Ken Davenport
