Observation date: April 25, 2021
Date notes: On dry south facing slope. Spring was late this year, but it has been very warm the last week.

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Abundant on a south facing slope at maybe 1,500 feet of elevation. Maybe 200 feet higher and I didn't see any. The black on the front of the forewing doesn't match any of the sulphurs in the Butterflies of Alaska Field Guide Second Edition. The hind wing also has coloration to suggest it's an arctic, not a sulphur; but none of those in the book appear as brightly orange as the one I saw. Less than half the size of the Milbert's Tortoiseshell.
