Observation notes: The butterfly was coming to Bull thistle, cirsium vulgare. We saw five individual Rhesus Skippers in this one-mile stretch where the thistles are located. It was the same location where we saw them on 5/22/2020. The habitat this year was very dry, and the side of the road had been mowed last year. We or friends had been over this stretch of road several times this month, and the thistles did not have blooms on them until this week. We saw only one at noon, but more were sighted later in the afternoon, around 1:30.
