Observation date: June 02, 2021
Submitted by: aranderson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: First noticed insect at approximately 8:00 am when temperature was 16 deg C. Insect has not moved all morning except to spread open it’s wings at about 8:15 am. Sometime later it closed its wings, as it was observed again at 10:00 am with wings closed. Insect is on the west side of the house approximately 2-3 feet below our back door light which is on most early mornings. The west side of the house remains shaded till mid to late afternoon. At the time of the photograph, the temperature was 25 deg C in the sun, so likely several degrees cooler in the shade. There is a light breeze today at 8km/hr out of the NW. The insect is oriented facing up toward the light above it.
