Coordinator notes: This is the first Shasta Blue submitted as a Shasta Blue that actually appears to be the real thing. All the butterfly collectors I know are not going to the Spring Mountains. ..but those who have Austin's paper know where Shasta Blues should be already. A drought year like this one probably means they will fly earlier than normal this year or not at all. Western species often can skip a year or more as immatures and wait for a wetter year-Ken Davenport
