Coordinator notes: It is interesting that this proposed endangered species is one of the most commonly submitted species to BAMONA. Recent relevations in scientific magazine and journal articles show most Monarchs in California are now overwintering inland rather than at traditional overwintering sites. They are also now breeding in suburban neighborhoods in coastal plain regions from San Francisco to San Diego, areas not counted. They are not doing well in the southern Sierra Nevada where drought is badly affecting milkweed leaf conditions-Ken Davenport
