Observation notes: brown caterpillar more than 2 inches long. It is a looper with 10 prolegs. The anal prolegs are sharply split. The caterpillar is flattened, not cylindrical. The underside of the caterpillar is creamy light yellow with black spots. The caterpillar was found on a juglans nigra stem in a vertical position about 18 inches above ground level. The only other plants within 18 inches are hedera helix and ammsonia hubrichtii
