Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Temperature in the mid 60's F. Sunny, light breeze. This butterfly was very interested in a concrete slab at the edge of the parking lot. Has it proboscis extended. Would turn towards me and flutter away from me, but did not abandon the cement pad. When it opened its wings the dorsal side is blue. Through a tear in the wing dark dots are visible on the dorsal side. Only blue butterfly I saw near the parking lot. Many more blue butterflies in the lupine by the picnic tables at the top of the mountain. I was unable to photograph so who knows what else might be in that meadow at the top of the mountain. Photos are ventral view of both sides of butterfly.
