Observation notes: I'm not sure there's enough in this photo to make a definitive ID. I thought I'd post it anyway.

Coordinator notes: Yes, there is enough showing to ID this skipper as Uncas. Not a common skipper at all found above 10,000 feet and unusual above timberline but it is the most common Hesperia in southern Colorado and obviously exploits its range there, including higher elevation. PS I have identified your sighting #1303992...that which you suspect might be a moth which is correct. I can't confirm it because the name is not included on the BAMONA species list (it is Macaria brunneata) so when/if that gets added, I'll confirm it on through. You might find a photo of this moth in a google search? It is on Pl. 27, Fig. 36 in the Powell-Opler book "Moths of Western North America." Mike
