Observation notes: I saw several of these warming up along a logging road at 4,700'. These seemed about the same size as pegala but gray rather than brown. At higher and lower elevations I only noticed C. pegala. 2nd photo is habitat.

Coordinator notes: This seems to be subspecies sineoccelata which also may be influenced by subspecies behrii. It definitely is not silvestris which is characterized by nondescript markings, none of this known by Shapiro when the Trinity Alps paper was written. Sineoccelata was described and named in 1998, so this may be a SISKIYOU COUNTY record for this subspecies, if its not a atypical C. pegala ariane. I'd love to see an upperside view!-Ken Davenport.
