Eastern Comma
Polygonia comma

Observation date: September 11, 2021
Submitted by: Tom Wiseman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This butterfly was eating rotted pears that had fallen on the ground. The reason I said it was the Eastern Comma instead of Question Mark is because I see a comma on the underside of the wing. (Not shown on the picture submitted but on other photos of the same butterfly)
