Observation notes: This 4" caterpillar was moving along on an asphalt walking path at our park in Maumelle, Arkansas between a parking lot and grass area next to a lake. There was one tree nearby. A sunny, dry day. We careful lifted it with a stick while it twisted around and placed it in the grass close to the lake. It had smooth skin, no spikes and did not secrete anything as I picked it up with the stick.
