Observation notes: This is an individual small checkerspot observed along Pine Tree Trail, above the Aguirre Springs Campground; it was nectaring from creeping zinnia (Sanvitalia) flowers. The day was warm, humid, under partly cloudy sky, and vegetation was drying from overnight rain showers.

Coordinator notes: the generous abdomen suggests this is a female and the lack of a white bar at the forewing apex suggests it is the nominate ssp. D. dymas dymas. terrific!
