Abaeis nicippe

Observation date: September 13, 2021
Submitted by: jamesvonloh
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Many individuals taking nutrients from seeps, moist soil, and rocks at the Soledad Canyon headwall and waterfall area. Although mostly sleepy oranges were "puddling" there were also individuals of Mexican yellows, tailed oranges, and other species resent. Several individuals presented wing-edge damage of unknown origin as illustrated in Image #6. The afternoon was bright, under full sun, but the canyon head was cool, breezy, and humid.

Coordinator notes: that is strange wing damage. I wonder if it had a problem separating from its chrysalis . . .
