Observation notes: Great surprise! I wasn't expecting to see these so early in the season. As I was sitting on a rock scrolling through my photos I saw a butterfly land on a rabbitbrush plant right next to me. I was able to get two photos, including this decent one. When I got up to try to get another angle the butterfly flew closer to the ground, and eventually flew into some beargrass where I lost it. A few seconds after it flew into the beargrass my camera went out of power, so I got lucky! A great way to start the butterfly season.
