Observation notes: A great surprise, and my fourth new butterfly today! This should be the second county record going by BAMONA, and the first non historical record. This butterfly was feeding on beargrass blooms with several forester moths, and when I first saw it I was confused about what it was. It was similar color to a duskywing but significantly smaller, and when I saw the golden head I immediately knew it was a scallopwing. It fed on the flowers for a few minutes and then flew to the ground nearby to bask in the sun. The tattered appearance would seem to suggest that it traveled a long ways to get here.

Coordinator notes: nice one Joshua! this does confirm this species for Bernalillo County, so now I can take the "?" off the "Be" in Butterflies of NM. good work!
