Observation notes: Individual nectaring from spiny chloracantha flowers established on the bank of the Rio Grande. The site was sheltered from the wind by a stand of southern cattail. Between 10-15 buckeyes were observed along ~1mi reach of the bankful river on this morning. The morning was warm, under full sun, and the wind was gusting into the 30+ mph range.
