Coral Hairstreak
Satyrium titus

Observation date: June 29, 2022
Submitted by: Smalltowngirl
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sipping water at bird bath then flying amongst cone flowers.
Status: Resident
Verified by: James Steen
Verified date: August 21, 2022
Coordinator notes: Definitely Satyrium titus. Though where the coral pigment spots should be VERY visible they appear only beige in the photos, but again definitely a Coral Hairstreak - we have them here in Kansas and I've seen them many times. Here they love Butterfly Weed to obtain nectar on. Perhaps your settings for photos are set to omit reds?? Nice sighting though! Thank you. JAMES STEEN
