Red-spotted Purple or White Admiral
Limenitis arthemis

Observation date: July 08, 2022
Submitted by: MimTruax
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Behaviour was typical of Red-Spotted Purple. Flying near poplar and birch trees in Afton State Park (Minnesota). What caught my eye was the faint white band, observable on its left set of wings, both on ventral and dorsal surfaces. His right wings appeared to have been chewed off by predators right along where that white band would have been.

Coordinator notes: Cool find! You are correct, this individual is an example of a White Admiral x Red-spotted Purple intergrade. BAMONA doesn't have the species checkbox for this intergrade, hence the generic term I had to give for the official label. -jmgesell
