Observation notes: An individual emperor rests/basks on sun-warmed gravel of the La Cueva Trail just north of Dripping Springs VC in the Organ Mountains. This species is present in low numbers in most local canyon sites that also support western hackberry trees. The morning was hot, humid, with gusting wind, and under full sunlight.
