Observation notes: An individual taking nectar from creosotebush flowers emerging from short shrubs that have established adjacent to the Achenbach Canyon parking area (Organ Mountain footslope) on less disturbed, volcanic cobble substrate. With sufficient monsoon rainfall over the past three weeks, creosotebushes are producing flowers in profusion regionally and present a potential nectar source for some butterfly species and many individuals, when they are present. During spring 2020, I observed many marine blues, in particular, using this nectar source. The midday was hot, humid, partly cloudy, and with some wind gusts.
