Observation notes: Medium black moth with distinct dorsal outer-wing ovals in yellow and vivid blue inserts between them. This and another werre observed taking nutrients from moist soil and flowing water at the head of Soledad Canyon, mid-slope of the Organ Mountains. Individual spent nearly an hour in dappled shade and at the exposed headwall base. The early afternoon was hot, mostly sunny, and with moderate wind gusts occasionally blowing up-canyon.
