Observation notes: A pair of snouts were among the first to arrive along the Rio Grande this summer; they were taking nectar from a Baccharis tall shrub. Additionally, they were displaying and exhibiting courtship behavior (flicking wings to short flights together over the water) which is presented in the attached images. Aggressive wasps and bees often interrupt their nectaring. The morning was hot, humid, sunny, and with a steady breeze.
