Observation notes: Found the chrysalis exactly seven days ago hanging from a leaf stem on a red maple sapling and put it in a protected environment. Today I woke to the emerged butterfly. I put it on the deck near a slice of orange, and after it sipped a little orange juice it flew straight up into an oak tree.
