Coordinator notes: These Catocala are often tricky to differentiate, both as imagos and instars. I think this is C. piatrix; both of the photos indicate this. I can't find other sightings in the UP, but there are several in WI and elsewhere in MI. Hard to say if it's resident without more data. In any event, I wouldn't be shocked if someone corrects this sighting.
