Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Speedy, erratic duskywing flying low around a pollinator garden. Was able to capture a number photos, but it felt like I could not focus on it. Seemed Less defined. Also has the darker fringe on the forewings, and white on the hind wings, like those mentioned in Florida. As a group of local experts (as well as NC experts) and our local entomologist Ken Lorenzen studied our photos, it was determined that this was a male Zarucco. (Ken Lorenzen has also submitted this duskywing). The day was hot and breezy, approximately 85º, sunny to partly cloudy.
