Field Crescent
Phyciodes pulchella

Observation date: August 30, 2022
Submitted by: twofried
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Everything looks pretty good for female Field Crescent but dorsal side, to my eye, appears to be uniform orange and black without any yellow. Pattern doesn't look right for Northern or Mylitta. Not sure what that makes it, just a fresh fall Field Crescent.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: I think your diagnosis is good. sometimes the difference in orange hues is less obvious. timing is perfect for second brood of Field Crescent, which seems to be creeping into higher elevations.
