Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I first observed an individual of this species at another Clark Co., NV, location on 9/18/22 (Desert NWR), but was unable to get a photo; it is the first time I've seen the species in the state, having lived here for 15 years. Unsure if monsoon moisture or other weather conditions are responsible for triggering a flight into this area.
Status: Migrant

Coordinator notes: Jeanne: I will accept both records for the Season Summary. The summer rains have triggered these movements. I spent 3 days, Sept 21-23rd 2022 in the Black Mountains and Hualapai Mts. in Mohave County, Arizona and collected a nice male philenor, 2 Acacia Skippers! and saw a Lyside Sulphur as well as Apache Skippers and Bauer's Giant Skippers in the Hualapai's It appears Cogia hippalus gets within 30 air miles of California and Nevada. I think it lives in the Mohave Desert 2 miles from Oatman! Another person also submitted a Pipevine Swallowtail record from near Vegas but never shared he name. Real names can add a lot of credibility to a record, yours carry weight! Thank You!-Ken Davenport
