Observation notes: A few individual buckeyes are using habitat along the Rio Grande. They are typically quite small in size and present a variety of color patterns. This individual, with dark-reddish ventral hind wings and forewing tip, was sunning and avoiding wind gusts over 40 mph by ground-perching on the lee side of tall sandbar willow shrubs. The afternoon was partly cloudy, warm, and windy. Note: my ventral wing images were in shadow, so I'm also displaying a brightened copy of #0737; it is #0737_2).
Status: Temporary Colonist

Coordinator notes: Jim, I'm not sure what to call this one. it seems to have qualities of nigrosuffusa, grisea and possibly stenosa. so I will leave this ID at genus level.
