Observation notes: Hello, Mike, here's my favorite shot from last year and one of a small number of butterflies seen in 2022 with most insects being much less plentiful than in years past.

Coordinator notes: Thanks Char...correct ID...a late flying female (they aestivate (kind of a summer hibernation) to later in the summer then lay eggs near where dry land violets grow on the prairie (Viola nuttallii, grows rather prostrate and has elongate, pointed leaves and yellow flowers in the spring.
