Observation notes: Metalmark was observed taking nutrients/nectaring from claret cup hedgehog cactus flower, a first observation of this food source for me. The site is located on sandy soil of Tortugas Mountain, southwest-facing toeslope. The afternoon was partly cloudy, hot, and windy.
