Coordinator notes: Hermeuptychia hermybius is a relatively new species (2014), recently split from H. sosybius but not yet in BAMONA, so I'm approving this as H. sosybius for the time being. According to Cong & Grishin (2014), the Lower Rio Grande Valley population of Hermeuptychia should be treated as a separate species. They differ from Carolina Satyrs by 2.1% DNA Barcode as well as "by wing patterns, such as the size of eyespots and the shape of brown lines on hindwing." See also this article in Entomology Today: https://entomologytoday.org/2014/02/21/two-new-species-of-butterfly-accidentally-discovered-in-eastern-usa/ I understand that Hermeuptychia hermybius needs to be added to the BAMONA database and once that happens we'll update this sighting.
