Observation notes: On Junipers at Juniper Hills near Devil’s Punch Bowl. Used the technique from Ken Denton’s logbook to tap the Junipers with my hiking stick to see if any hairstreaks would fly out. Often many other types of insects would fly out like moths and crane flies. Finally found this one Hairstreak and got it to land on a low enough branch for a pic. Partly cloudy day in the 70’s F. Should be subspecies Juniperaria based on location.
