Coordinator notes: In the book Systematics of Western North American Butterflies in the original description of G. piasus umbrosa, starting on page 172, it mentions an intermediate population in the San Jacinto Mts. between subspecies umbrosa and sagittigera. I have no umbrosa in my collection but I have a full series of sagittigera in which females appear much like the photo you submitted-Ken Davenport
