Observation notes: HIll-topping on the rocky outcrop functioning as the visual summit of Maverick Hill. While lower in elevation than the true summit, which is flat and vegetated, this outcrop is surrounded by a sharp drop in three directions. Several other hill-topping species also favored this location. For the previous week, the weather had been monsoon-like with afternoon showers and this day, while still warm and sunny at this time, was no exception.
