Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Photographed in Saint Helena Island, South Carolina. I thought this was perhaps a sport of tiger swallowtail because it had a disproportionate amount of thick black markings and seemed a bit larger than the tigers I am accustomed to seeing. The body also seemed large, solid butter yellow, and vertically flattened. The insect was very active around my lantana flowers and was difficult to photograph, but I did get several decent shots. I believe this is a Western Swallowtail. I have several from different angles, and a video. I have high res images, those uploaded here have been reduced in file size and resolution.
