Observation notes: The Red Admiral was nectaring on Japanese lilac blooms under calm, sunny conditions, but smoky due to Alberta wild fire smoke. The location was an abandoned farm yard site bordered with a lilac hedge. This is the first Red Admiral I have seen in this area for 25 years.
