Western Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio rutulus

Observation date: June 22, 2023
Submitted by: RoxannaTessman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: As I watched this large butterfly go from lavender to lavender, I was amazed at the size. I thought it must be a Two-tailed Swallowtail, but in reviewing the photos it seems to be a Western Tiger Swallowtail. What else should I look for aside from the size?
