Alypia octomaculata

Observation date: June 25, 2023
Submitted by: barthsm
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This moth landed on the windshield of my car and I hopped out to take a photo of it as I had never seen this species. I was driving through an old growth forest at the time.

Verified date: June 27, 2023
Coordinator notes: Alypia octomaculata and Anania funebris are very similar. This one has white rather than orange along the sides of the thorax (barely visible but can be seen in the reflection on your windshield) and legs are black with no orange tufts.
