Observation notes: The caterpillar was found on an arroyo willow tree in a riparian woodland, which is mostly vegetated with California natives. Nearby plants were yarrow, seaside daisy, coffee berry, CA horkelia, sticky monkey flower, Douglas iris, CA wax myrtle, woodland strawberry, and buckwheat. The site is just inland from Seabright State Beach in Santa Cruz CA. The day was cool, upper 60's, with partial overcast.
