Date notes: I have never seen one of these before. It appears to be a Sphinx of the type sphingidae ophthalmica, but they aren't supposed to live here. It's July 23, 2023, and I'm in western (Ravalli Co,) Montana.

Observation notes: It was on my porch when I went outside this morning. Unfortunately the lighing isn't the best. I spent a lot of time looking it up on Google, and can find images that look exactly like this one. Except they all say it doesn't live here in Ravalli Co. Montana. I have never seen one like this before. It was roughly 1.5" long and 2.5" from wing tip to wing tip. (held a ruler next to it) I tried to get it to open it's wings, and it fluttered to the porch floor. The shot is blurry, because it kept vibrating it's wings very fast, then sadly, it flew away.
