Observation notes: Seen at the transition between the chaparral and a summit meadow, along a trail lined with flowering Buckwheat, along with (still) flowering Monkeyflower and other flowering plants. Many smaller butterfly species were in this area. Just one individual was seen, opening and closing its wings in an odd mechanical motion as it feed on the Buckwheat blossoms.
