Observation notes: Found crawling on the ground next to our barn. It has crawled up the water standpipe next to the barn and is still there today (7.26.23), so may be ready to build cocoon. The barn is in a forest of Douglas Fir, madrona, oak, and maple. 7.27.23 It has started its cocoon!
