Observation notes: 82 degrees, cloudy, no wind. While checking out my observation sites I came upon a Western Checkered White. It was fast moving. I got in my car and drove 1/4 mile in the direction it was headed and waited at the swamp edge where there was a lot of nectaring food. Sure enough the Western arrived. I got only a few photos, and it flew away. so I drove another mile and stopped at an easement where there is Knapweed blooming. Bingo found another one. Took many photos (Female) . Proceeded to drive around our point slowly and look. I found two more females. One of which was nectaring on knapweed, and the other on a low yellow flower I call trefoil popcorn (the roadsides are lined with this plant)

Coordinator notes: Tough call between P. occidentalis and P. protodice. Agree that features appear to favor P. occidentalis in these individuals. Nice find! -jmgesell
