Observation notes: Seen nectaring and displaying in multiple locations in a Buckwheat bush patch that extended alongside a trail for 50 meters. The individual tagged along as I walked the section, eventually traveling the entire stretch of the buckwheat patch. Initially I thought I was seeing multiple individuals but a comparison of the pictures I gathered along the way showed identifying markings that showed it was the same butterfly. The weather was clear, breezy and warm.
