Observation notes: 84°F, 60% humidity, cloudy and rainy this morning, mostly sunny when sighted. Found caterpillar on the dirt ground under light layer of dead, dry leaves, not on a plant. When moved into the sunlight, the caterpillar crawled back under cover. This yard is mostly uncultivated and given over to locally common weeds. The nearest to the caterpillar were probably spotted spurge in abundance, followed by horseweed, hairy fleabane, and very recent sprouts of puncture vine and purslane.
