Observation notes: Five days ago I watched a Papilio polyxenes as she oviposited on my parsley plants, which were in pots on a south-facing porch; that's primarily how I know what kind of egg this is. This occurred on one of the few sunny days that week. A few of these eggs have already hatched and I've seen some very tiny instars on some of the plants, which I've moved to cages. I know from experience raising these things that these instars will overwinter as pupae and eclose in late May.
