Observation notes: Diane and I had seen this species a couple day's before and we wanted to get a later date to try to extend the late date record or set a later date. She flushed this one up and it went to nectar after warming in the sun. She Yelled for me and I got very excited as this is a very late in the season find for this species ? We got to watch this butterfly visit at least two different sources of nectar. Low thirty's at night and it was 49 at ten when we started this hunt. some coppers, sulphur, Skippers, Parnassians, Blues, but hard to find them as it was so cold and there were few in numbers. Mostly sunny until afternoon then thunder and Rain. Also hunting season for Deer had some very loud Booms. Season opened to our surprise on the 16th. We saw one hunter with a heavy load to haul out. Sounded like other hunters were also able to get a Buck. Diane saw a two point and a four point buck. My last trip I saw two trophy bucks. That was before the opener. Hope all is well. Thanks for all your long hours again!
