Observation notes: This one seems a little fresher, at flowers in the rockslide at saddle bag lake. Diane is very good at finding butterflies with here amazing ability to search. She found most of the stuff that we are posting. Possible that the temp got up to 60, when we got up it was 32 at our camp. 49 at ten am at the start of this search, amazing to me that there are still live butterflies when its so cold and late in the season. Mostly sunny, and the sun was still warm if you had lots of layers of clothing. Cold wind and lots of snow still covering vast area's making some area's impossible for most people to cross. Some small area's here and there looked a lot like spring time in the mountains. Fresh lupin, larks spur, Paintbrush and many other flowers even many Buckwheats were still blooming. Very Wonderful season for us looking for butterflies, We were very surprised to see anything. Diane was expecting to see The season colors starting to change, you can see that in the grasses in the meadows in the drier places. Thanks again Ken. Oh and there are lots of large orange sulphur's Flying all over the place, even in Los Angeles County. Crazy year with all this rain, even lots of queens flying again Yeah!
